FAQ's

Q. Can I get hurt?

A. Technically speaking, Fencing is a martial art and this goes with the pretext that you can get hurt. In reality, the most you are ever likely to suffer is a few small bruises. Statistically, there are more minor and serious accidents in Golf than there are in Fencing.

Q. I wear glasses, will these fit under the masks?

A. Yes. I know several people who wear glasses and they do fit under masks. However, you may find it more comfortable to get some disposable contact lenses from your optician as glasses can sometimes slide down your nose, which can be awkward when wearing a mask.

Q. Do I need to buy all the equipment before I come along?

A. No. We supply all equipment needed for the beginners courses. All you need is a pair of joggers (not shorts), a t-shirt, a drink and a towel as you may get a bit hot.

Q. How much does the equipment cost?

A. It depends really. There are many manufacturers all offering lots of choice. A basic set of equipment will probably set you back £150-200 (cheaper than a lot of sports). As with anything though, you can always buy something more expensive where the jacket alone can cost you nearly £200.

Q. Do you have any age limits?

A. Our minimum age limit is 9. For more details, please see our Juniors section or contact us.
